much of what’s been documented here came out of the need to be reminded that creativity and intention have always been at play for me.

you’ll find that this digital space houses moments — past, present, and ongoing — that have sparked joy and reignited my love to create and simply be. i’m grateful you’ve lent some of your time to view it.

so, hey, welcome. i’m happy you’re here.

i’m hazel —

my roots began on tataviam land where I grew up fortunate to be enmeshed in different cultures, languages, and people. if we’ve ever crossed paths, you’d know that the san fernando valley holds my heart.

the last few years have involved a lot of soul-searching and allowing my mind to ruminate on real wants and needs.

previously, I was an english as a second language educator to immigrant, migrant, and refugee learners in the greater los ángeles/tongva region.

I was also the founder and curator at wood&wicker.la, a filipina-owned vintage goods and furniture restoration brand based locally in my hometown. i’ve also dabbled in editing/copywriting for local businesses and writers. one thing that has stayed is my love for books and my attempts at documenting my day-to-day without critique.

although i’m new to film photography, i’ve volunteered to shoot content for small businesses and creatives to grow my adoration for passion projects.

Wherever life has taken me, building community and partnerships remained incredibly important to the work I wanted to be involved in. although i’ve recently transitioned out of education and into the non-profit sector, I remain intent on supporting my fellow community members through and through.

this space serves as a means to showcase what i’ve done and the work I long to do in the future.

salamat for dropping by. hope you stick a while.
